Labradoodles are pleasant dogs that are affectionate, noble, obedient, highly sociable, friendly, loving, loyal and comical. This breed loves to engage in play and activity and is extremely docile and non-aggressive. They make excellent family pets and are patient and loving towards children.
The Labradoodle is a unique dog, with a fascinating history. Their story begins in Australia. The first Labradoodle was bred by Wally Conron, head breeder for the Australian Guide Dog Association in 1989.

Wally Conron was encouraged to start the cross breed between the Standard Poodle and the Labrador Retriever by a blind women who suffered from dog allergies. The initial mating of the two breeds was quite successful and three low-allergy pups were produced.
The first hybrids produced surpassed the best qualities of both purebreds. Due to this fact, Labradoodles became extremely popular in Australia and more breeders began crossing the breeds. However, as cross breeding continued, the offspring produced were not consistent. Some were low shedding and allergy-free, while others lacked these qualities.
After the success of the first mating, Mr. Conron bred Labradoodle to Labradoodle, and called the subsequent offspring, "Double Doodles." Next, he crossed the Double Doodles and called the offspring "Tri Doodles." These were the precursor to what we call today the Australian Multi-Generational Labradoodles.
When Wally Conron retired, a veterinarian named Kate Schoeffel from Condoblin New South Wales, Australia, who had been in touch with him, started her own breeding program mating Miniature Poodles with Labrador Retrievers. Her success was such that she is still breeding her Miniature first generation Labradoodles.
