All About Labradoodle : Labradoodle Coat Types

Your dog comes to you with his own coat, which is the fur on it's body. There are some dogs who have heavy coats, and there are those whose coats are skimpy. Is it important to take care of your dog's coat.

A dog's coat needs to be washed, dried and brushed regularly so that it will look good and feel good.

The Labradoodle is a developing breed who currently demonstrates 3 very different coat types. It is essential that a buyer is familiar with each type and the benefits it affords in order to be completely satisfied with their doodle’s coat.

The Wool Coat :
Non-shedding, very coarse, yet different from a poodle-wool. Should be single coat and curly or spiralling. A definite course texture which may be felt. Desirable for breeding and allergies/asthma. Easily maintained by 3 to 4 puppy clippings per year.

The Fleece Coat :
The ultimate coat that is easily maintained, non-shedding, allergy and asthma friendly and somewhat like that of an Angora Goat.

The Hair Coat :
This coat is usually seen in early generation dogs. It is harsher in texture, can appear unkept, and may have doggie odours and varying degrees of shedding. If your Labradoodle has a low degree shedding coat, it must be groomed out. Typically this is a lower maintenance coat.

Overall, the Labradoodle is a fun loving, quiet, calm yet comical, loving companion for families as well as a fantastic service animal, being easily trainable, loyal and intelligent.
