The Labradoodle is a cross between a Labrador Retriever and a Standard Poole. They are the most popular "designer dogs". They make a wonderful companion and family pet. They also make a good service animal if trained right. These dogs are friendly, energetic and loyal. They make good watchdogs.

 
     
 


General Appearance :
The Australian Labradoodle should be athletic and graceful, yet compact with substance and medium boning. They are joyful and energetic when free yet soft and quiet when handled. They should approach people in a happy friendly manner with eye to eye contact and are keen to learn, and easy to train.

Head :
The head is sculptured, broad, with well-defined eyebrows, a medium stop, eyes set well apart, and nose to eye slightly longer than eye to occiput.

Ears :
The ears are moderately flat against the head and the base is leveled with the eye.

Eyes :
The eyes are slightly round, large, expressive, and always offering eye to eye contact when engaged in activity with a human.

Nose :
The nose is large, square, fleshy and pigmented black or rose.

Neck :
The neck is firm and well muscled.

Colour :
Their curly or wavy coats are 4-6 inches long and come in many colors.
Chalk , Cream, Aprioct, Chocolate, Silver, Cafe, Black.

 
     
 


Coat :
The Labradoodle is a very popular mixed breed that does not have a breed standard, however it is preferred that the dog has a wooly and curly coat while retaining many characteristics of the Lab. The hair of this breed should be little to no shedding. Regular cleaning around the muzzle area should be done to remove any dirt and/or caking that may be present.

Extremely Clever, Sociable, Joyful, Sweet Temperament, Very Lovable, Friendly, Non - Aggressive, Loyalty of Lab, Good Watchdog.

Health :
Common Labradoodles disorders are :
Hip Dysplasia, Elbow Sysplasia, Hypothyriodism, Retinal Atrophy, Patella Luxation.

Exercise :
Labradoodles need exercise and to best with a yard. He love to takes walks and would make an excellent dog for someone who loves to be outdoors. He also love water and are natural swimmers.

Grooming :
Regular grooming to keep coat looking good with a trim 2-3 times a year to prevent matting of their coats. First generation Labradoodles tend to have a low maintenance, shaggy dog look, the hair on the body usually about 2 inches long. Labradoodle backcrosses and multigens tend to have longer fur (4 - 7 inches), and require regular grooming.

Care :
The Labradoodle should be regularly brushed to prevent tangling or matting of the coat. This dog sheds little to no hair so should be clipped at least once a year. This dog however can shed depending on the bloodlines. The proper research must be done by allergy sufferers to ensure they will get a "hypo-allergenic" dog. The Labradoodle should not shed much hair so brushing is extremely important.

Training :
The Labradoodle is a very intelligent dog combining the extreme trainability of both the Poodle and the Lab. They do well in agility sports and are very easy to train. Training techniques can and should be changed regularly to make training fun and keep this dogs attention. The Labradoodle should be very easy to housebreak if training is consistent, and does very well in many different sports.

Activity :
The Labradoodle requires regular exercise and should have at least a medium sized yard for a regular romp and play. This dog loves long walks with his owner and loves a nice jog. This dog makes an excellent companion for an owner who loves the outdoors and does well on hikes if proper water is provided due to the coat. This dog should have at least two hours of exercise daily as he is a large breed and takes on the energetic qualities of the Lab
