Welcome to the website for Labradoodle information, news, pictures, and links !

Labradoodles are a cross between the Standard Poodle and Labrador Retriever. Wally Cochran first started this cross breed in Australia in the 1970's. He was prompted to do this by a blind woman who suffered from allergies to dogs. The first mating between the Standard Poodle and Labrador Retriever was successful and produced three low allergy pups. This provoked a surge of Labradoodle breeders in Australia

The Poodle is renowned for its high intelligence and non shedding wool. The Labradoodle inherits the most desirable characteristics of its forbears, with the smart placid easy going nature of a Labrador & the intelligence of a Poodle which has a wool coat and is hypo allergenic.

Labradoodles are the ultimate family companion. They adore the attention and company of children and they love to join in and play games. Labradoodles are patient, intelligent, sociable, loving, loyal and kind. They are non-aggressive and love to make you laugh and will go to great lengths to make you happy. They also thrive when living close to you and tend to gravitate towards the younger members of the family.

Labradoodle dogs are not only good companions but also good watchdogs. They are very easy to train being very intelligent, having the characteristics of both the Lab and the Poodle.

Labradoodles are intelligent and left to their own accord will tend to find ways to entertain themselves that owners might not be so pleased with. Clear boundaries, fair discipline and consistent redirection along with lots of love will ensure years of joy together.

As a potential dog owner, you must be equipped with information on how to choose a puppy that's right for you and your family.

A Labradoodle dog is no different from any other dogs when it comes to the amount of care and attention needed. In that they need the same amount of commitment and time that a young child needs.Link

It is important to note that there are two types of Labradoodles - The Australian Labradoodle and the American Labradoodle. In this website we will be focused on the American Labradoodle, which is considered a hybrid dog. Unlike the Australian variety, the American type only uses Poodles and Labrador Retrievers for breeding.

This site is easy to use and regularly updated.
